Private Ice Skating Lessons

One-on-one instruction is the best way to receive personalized coaching and individualized correction. Our coach-skater relationships are tailored to meet each skater's goals from recreation to power skating (hockey) to competition in singles figure skating & ice dance.

General Information

Group lessons are a social, collaborative learning modality where new skills are explored in an energetic, positive atmosphere. Skaters will be grouped by ability with instructors monitoring skater improvement to ensure optimal class placement week-to-week. Rental skates are available. Participants should dress in warm, form-fitting athletic clothing including gloves. Helmets are recommended for beginners.

Introductory Level

This level is sub-divided into 3 levels to include skaters who are complete beginners up to those who are ready to begin figure skating skills in earnest (approximately equivalent to USFS basic skills 1-6). Skaters will learn on-ice safety, correct use of the blade for pushing and the fundamentals of balance and movement on the ice.

  • Fall Down/Get Up
  • Marching w/Gliding & Dips on 2 Feet
  • Forward Swizzles
  • Scooter Pushes & Forward Skating
  • Snowplow Stop
  • Backward Swizzles & Wiggles
  • Two-Foot Spin
  • Bunny Hop

Introductory 2 Skills


  • Alternating Forward Half Swizzle Pumps on a Line
  • Forward Half Swizzle Pumps on a Circle
  • Forward Scooter Pushes on a Circle
  • Sustained Forward Outside & Inside Edge on a Circle
  • Pumping Forward Crossovers


Introductory 3 Skills


  • Forward Crossovers on a Circle
  • Backward Half Swizzle Pumps on a Circle
  • Alternating Forward Outside & Inside Edges on a Line
  • Backward Crossovers on a Circle
  • Alternating Backward Outside & Inside Edges
  • Basic Forward Outside 3 Turn
  • One Foot Spin

Advanced Level (Group Training)

This level is sub-divided to include skaters ranging from recent Introductory graduates up to skaters participating in US Figure Skating tests and competitions. It is Group Training because it should be seen as part of a growing skater's weekly training load along with individual on-ice practice, private skating lessons and off-ice conditioning. Skaters will explore spin and jump technique, choreography and advanced skating skills in a dynamic, interactive format. Multiple facilitators contribute their expertise to make this program a one of a kind value.
